Underwater park to open in Kaliningrad
Yantarny Underwater Park in the Kaliningrad region is almost completed, its opening is expected in the near future, said Minister of Culture and Tourism Andrey Yermak. The park will be an attractive place for divers, as diving has become more popular in recent years. The water environment of Lake Sinyavinskoye is warmer than in the sea, and diver clubs will provide equipment and suits for diving even in November.
The project to create a park is being implemented by the Museum of the World Ocean, with the support of the Russian Geographical Society, the regional government and the Amber Combine . At the bottom of the lake there are interesting objects for inspection. The museum is collaborating with the Kant Baltic Federal University and the Atlantic Branch of the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences to create a center for comprehensive training of specialists in marine archeology on the basis of the park.
The official opening of the underwater park is scheduled for the end of September. Sinyavinskoye Lake, located in the village of Yantarny, was previously a German amber quarry and was flooded with fresh water after forest fouling. At the moment, there are two diving centers in the village that provide equipment and provide training. The depth of the lake reaches up to 28 meters.
