Banks often refuse to issue funds
Tour operators advise Russians to take cash to Turkey
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) has warned Russians that Turkish banks and shops are less likely to accept Russian MIR cards.
Since the beginning of this year, due to the conflict in Ukraine and sanctions, Russians have been cut off from access to international banking systems, and Russian MIR cards are not accepted abroad. However, Turkey has long tried to accept MIR cards in order to satisfy the demands of tourists from Russia, whose number is constantly growing.
But recently, the United States and European countries have made it clear to the Turkish authorities that they will not tolerate her circumventing sanctions and accepted Russian cards. As a result, only one ATM remained at the Antalya airport, issuing lira using MIR cards.
In Antalya itself, many banks also quickly refuse Russian cards. As of the beginning of the week, they are consistently accepted only at Ziraat Bankas. Denizbank and Iş Bankası banks very often refuse to issue funds.
