On May 30, a solemn ceremony was held in Rome to open the first elevator on the territory of the Colosseum. The event was attended by Italian Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano, director of the archaeological park of the Colosseum Alfonsina Russo, as well as actor Russell Crowe, best known for his role as Maximus in the film “Gladiator”.
It is reported that the elevator will be able to deliver visitors to gallery located between the second and third floors. Now a new space has been equipped here, which became available after reconstruction.
The glass elevator itself will allow visitors to the great sight to admire the most beautiful views of the surroundings. In addition, tourists no longer have to climb hundreds of steep steps.
The director of the archaeological park, Alfonsina Russo, commented on the installation of the elevator as follows: “One of the priority goals is the accessibility of — both cultural and physical, with trails that are accessible to all.
