The Thai airline Bangkok Airways has begun weighing its passengers. During the period from September 15 to October 31, the company collects information on the average weight of customers by weighing them along with their hand luggage before boarding their flight.

This is to confirm that the actual weight does not exceed the maximum permissible take-off weight and does not affect the safety and efficiency of flights.

Bangkok Airways guarantees that the personal data of passengers will be confidential.

Similar data collection is already being carried out by the South Korean airline Korean Air, which has begun weighing passengers along with their luggage at Gimpo and Incheon airports since late August. In June and July, passengers were also weighed by the New Zealand airline Air New Zealand.
