New Vnukovo Airport Metro Station Takes Its First Passengers
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that today, September 6, the Vnukovo Airport metro station was opened. Thus, the airport “Vnukovo” became the first airport in Russia to have its own metro station.
Journey time between Vnukovo airport and Moscow has significantly decreased: to the station “Michurinskiy Prospekt”; now you can drive in 23 minutes instead of 37, and to the “Business Center”; – in 40 minutes instead of 70.
To access the metro station «Vnukovo Airport» from terminal A, you can use the underground passage without going outside.
Recall that the Solntsevskaya metro line, on which the Vnukovo Airport station is located, appeared on the map of the Moscow metro relatively recently, linking the city center with the western districts and New Moscow. The first stations of this line were opened in 2014.
In addition, today, on September 6, another station, Pykhtino, was opened on the same line. On the site from the station “Pykhtino” to “Vnukovo Airport” trains come to the surface, passing over the metro bridge, and then go underground again.
