Nepal to relocate Everest base camp

Nepal authorities will move the base camp for climbing Everest

Authorities Everest base camp to be moved in Nepal that the location of the base camp for climbing Everest has become at risk due to the nearby Khumbu glacier melting.

Now the base camp is at an altitude of 5400 m. The new site will be 200-300 m lower.

The height of Everest is 8849 m. This means that climbers will have to climb from the future base camp to peaks are about 3750 m.
