Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov signed a law introducing a resort tax for tourists in the city. This was reported by representatives of his press service.

According to the new law, the fee will be charged from April 1, 2024. The resort fee will amount to 100 rubles per day for each person staying in the hotel.

Representatives of the press service explained that the proceeds from the resort fee will be used to create comfortable conditions and develop the tourism industry.

It also became known that the law itself will come into force as early as October 1, 2023, but travelers will not pay the fee until April 1, 2024.

Earlier in May, it was reported that the popular resort town of Aktau in Kazakhstan would introduce tourist tax for foreign tourists, including Russians. The rate for incoming foreigners has already been approved by local deputies.
