Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis promised tourists who were forced to interrupt their holidays due to severe forest fires on the island of Rhodes, a free week-long vacation on this island in the spring and autumn of 2024.

According to the head of government, the fire affected approximately 15 percent of the area of ​​the resort, however, the situation has now returned to normal. Mitsotakis acknowledged that the incident created some inconvenience for vacationers.

He noted that forest fires in the Mediterranean are not unusual, but due to climate change, their intensity has increased. The Prime Minister assured that Greece is absolutely safe, and urged those who unplannedly decide to visit Rhodes to come without fear.

Recall that in July this year, all the hotels that were under threat were evacuated on the island of Rhodes due to forest fires. More than two thousand people were evacuated by sea.
