In the new issue of the analytical report of the Bank of Russia “Regional Economy” It is said that gastronomic tourism is actively developing in Central Russia. Now people want to not only see beautiful places and get to know the sights, but also try the local cuisine, learn how production works.
As the authors of the report of the Bank of Russia note, the growth in popularity of trips to the cities of the Central Federal District is facilitated by good transport accessibility and festivals dedicated to certain dishes. For example, in the Voronezh region, a cheesecake festival was held in the spring. Culinary delights could be appreciated for a month in different parts of the city.
We have been developing this direction for a long time as part of the festivals of Serbian culture (“Serbian Days in the Black Earth Region”, “Serbia is near”, etc.). Gastronomic events enjoy considerable success: Voronezh residents and guests of the region actively participate in Balkan master classes!
By the way, the tourist flow stimulates the opening of new cafes and restaurants. According to Bank of Russia analysts, the public catering sector in Central Russia is actively recovering. From January to May, its growth rate was faster than the national average.
One of the trends this year, the authors of the report “Regional Economy” called the development of restaurant franchises.
Domestic tourism also has a beneficial effect on passenger transportation. Due to the fact that airports in some cities are now closed to passengers, a large load has fallen on rail transport. So that during the holidays people could get to the south, they launched additional trains. The number of interregional railway routes has also increased. For example, recently launched the routes of the project “Connecting the Black Earth” from Voronezh to Lipetsk, Kursk and Belgorod.
