Cervantes Days in Moscow
Until April 27, the Cervantes Days — festival dedicated to Spanish culture. The program includes public readings of Cervantes' works in Russian and Spanish, lectures on Spanish theatre, book culture of the 17th century, reflections of Cervantes in Russian literature, exhibitions of books, bookplates, and an instrumental musical program in the flamenco style. On the opening day of the festival, each visitor to the library received a rose and a book as a gift — in honor of Rose and Book Day (World Book and Copyright Day). April 23 ended the continuous reading of Don Quixote. After three years, the reading took place in person in Madrid. Broadcast from the capital of Spain which records the reading of chapters from different countries. Reading organizer – The Circle of Art Lovers (Círculo de Bellas Artes) has invited various people over the years – laureates of the Cervantes Prize, Hispanists, actors, ambassadors, students and translators of Spanish literature. There were live broadcasts even from prisons and other exotic places. Reading is translated into sign language. The Instituto Cervantes has supported this initiative from the very beginning. This year, the 25th chapter of the great novel was read by the Spanish Ambassador to Russia Marcos Gomez Martinez and students of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. A record of readings has already appeared on the network.
